contain と include の使い分け

contain も include も「含む」という共通の意味があり、どちらを使ってもよい場合もあるが、以下のように使い分けが必要な場合も多い。

● contain … 対象をある一定の枠内にとどめておくことを意味する

The building contains six rooms.

この建物には6つの部屋がある。

The first-aid kit contains medicines, bandages and so on.

救急箱には薬や包帯などが入っている。
