NHKラジオ講座「ラジオビジネス英語」に出てきた表現のうち、番組内で特にしっかり説明されていないけれども、日常会話で使えそうなものを取り上げます。 今回は get a feel for  です (2021年4月12日放送分)。NHKのテキストでは、 get a good feel for (～の感覚・イメージをしっかりつかむ) として次の文で使われていました。 That way, customers can get a good feel for the neighborhood. そうすることで、顧客は近所の雰囲気を感じることができますね。 get a feel for  は結局のところ、何かの「感じ」(feel) を「手に入れる」(get) ということで、なにも難しいことはありません。 「～の感じをつかむ、～に慣れてこつをつかむ」 などと訳されています。例文を以下にいくつか挙げておきます。 You will get a feel for English by reading it over and over. 何度も何度も読んでいるうちに英語の勘が養われます。 I finally got a feel for the part at today's rehearsal. 今日のリハーサルでやっと役の感触がつかめました。 You must get a feel for the arena before the competition. 試合の前に競技場に慣れておく必要があります。
