中国が尖閣諸島に防空識別圏を設定【和訳付き】

The dispute between China and Japan over a group of islands in the East China Sea has escalated again after China designated an air defense identification zone over the contested area.
東シナ海の島々をめぐる中国と日本の争いが再び激しさを増しています。領有権争いのある地域に中国が防空識別圏を設定したのです。

China's Defense Ministry released this map detailing the new defense zone.
中国の国防省は、新しい防空識別圏の詳細を示す地図を発表しました。

In orange you can see the boundary for China's territorial waters.
オレンジ色で示されているのは、中国の領海の境界線です。

The red line shows the new defense area, and if you look in the bottom right of that area, you will see it includes the islands in dispute.
赤色の線で示されているのが新しい防空識別圏です。この領域の右下を見ると、係争中の島々が含まれていることがわかります。

To the Japanese, they are known as the Senkaku.
この島々は、日本では尖閣諸島と呼ばれています。

The Chinese call them the Diaoyu, and they have been a major source of tension between Asia's two biggest economies for decades as the islands are a rich source of oil, natural gas and fish.
中国では釣魚島と呼ばれており、石油、天然ガス、魚が豊富であることから、数十年にわたってアジアの2つの経済大国間で緊張の大きな原因となってきました。

China's new air defense zone overlaps with Japan's previously established air defense zone, which military analysts say could increase the potential for a confrontation between Chinese and Japanese military aircraft operating in the area.

According to The Wall Street Journal: "U.S. officials have said they fear that such a clash could escalate into a military confrontation between China and Japan that could also drag in the U.S., which is obliged to defend Japan under a six-decade-old security treaty."
