(1) の正解 … could

丁寧な提案 (～したらどうですか) を表す。主語は通例 we または you。

We could meet again tomorrow.
明日また会いましょうか。

You could ask him for advice.
彼にアドバイスを求めてはどうですか。

(2) の正解 … shouldn't

強い助言、忠告、勧告 (～すべきだ、～することが望ましい) を表す。

You should keep your promise.
約束は守るべきです。

You shouldn't speak so loud.
そんな大声で話すんじゃありません。

(3) の正解 … could と would

丁寧な依頼 (～していただけませんか) を表す。

Could you come and see me tomorrow?
明日おいで願えませんでしょうか。

Would you wait a moment?
少々お待ちいただけますか。

(4) の正解 … could

過去における習慣的な能力 (～できた) を表す。1回限りの行為には使わない。
前後の状況から過去であることが明白な場合や、否定文である場合を除き、仮定法との混同を避けるために be able to、manage to、succeed in などを使う。

I could run faster in those days.
私は当時、今より速く走れた。

My daughter could play chess at the age of four.
私の娘は4歳でチェスをすることができた。

(5) の正解 … would

過去における習慣や反復的動作 (よく～したものだ) を表す。
限られた期間を表す場合に使い、長期の漠然とした過去を表す場合は used to を使う。

When we worked in the same office, we would often have coffee together.
同じ会社で働いていたとき、私たちはよく一緒にコーヒーを飲んだものだ。

He would often go fishing in the river when he was a child.
子供のころ彼はよく川へ釣りに行ったものだ。

(6) の正解 … should probably

should は強い助言や忠告を表すが、probably を付けることによって意味を弱めている。

He should probably quit his job.
彼は仕事をやめるべきかもしれない。

You should probably take the bus.
バスで行った方がいいと思いますよ。

(7) の正解 … could

現在または未来に対する推量や可能性 (～かもしれない) を表す。
might で置き換えることができる。

He could be promoted next week.
彼は来週昇進するかもしれない。

The professor could be in his office.
教授は研究室にいるかもしれない。

(8) の正解 … would

仮定の条件に対する帰結 (～だろうに) を表す。
