● very rainy = pouring (土砂降りの)
It's pouring outside.
外は土砂降りだ。
The pouring rain soaked him to the skin.
土砂降りの雨で彼はずぶぬれになった。
● very expensive = exorbitant (法外な、途方もない)
Some lawyers charge exorbitant fees.
弁護士の中には法外な料金を請求する者もいる。
The tin toy went for an exorbitant price at auction.
ブリキのおもちゃはオークションでべらぼうな値段が付いた。
● very good = exceptional, superb (ひときわ優れた、すばらしい)
The boy has exceptional abilities as a snowboarder.

彼は絶妙な語り口で聴衆を引きつけた。
● very hot = sweltering, boiling (うだるような)
The air-conditioner gave out in the sweltering weather.

● very surprised = stunned (あぜんとした)

● very old = ancient (大昔の、古くさい)

そんな古くさい考えは今どき通用しない。
