so と so that の使い分け

● so … 「結果」を表す接続詞として使われる

I was late, so I missed the meeting.
遅刻したので、会議に出席できなかった。

(同義) Because I was late, I missed the meeting.

● so that … 「目的」を表す副詞節を導く

I worked overtime this week so that I could take time off next week.
来週に休みを取ることができるように、今週は残業をした。

(同義) I worked overtime this week in order that I could take time off next week.

● so (形容詞または副詞) that … 主節の内容を that 節が補足する

I am so tired that I might pass out.
とても疲れて気を失いそうだ。
