唯一の治療法は、白血球を作る細胞を移植することでした。
The only way to handle this situation was to transplant cells that produce white blood cells.

移植を行うためには、大内さんと白血球の型が合う人が必要でした。
To perform the transplantation, they had to look for a person whose white blood cell type matched with that of Ouchi.

一致したのは、大内さんの妹でした。
They found that Ouchi's sister was the person.

この血液成分を分離する装置を使って、ただちに妹から採血が行われました。

その中から、白血球を作る細胞が取り出されました。

採血には2日間、合わせて9時間あまりかかりました。
The blood collection took more than nine hours over two days.

妹の細胞が大内さんに移植されました。
Her cells were transplanted into Ouchi.

今後の病状は、妹の細胞が大内さんの体内で白血球を作り出すかどうかにかかっていました。
His future condition depended on whether his sister's cells could produce white blood cells in his body.

結果が出るのは10日後でした。
It would take ten days to get the result.
