治療が始まって2か月が経とうとしていました。
Nearly two months had passed since the treatment started.

大量の出血と、繰り返される輸血。
Massive blood loss and repeated blood transfusion.

大内さんの心臓は、体全体に血液を送り出すために、激しく打ち続けていました。
Ouchi's heart was beating wildly to pump blood throughout his body.

心拍数は、1分間に120以上。
His heart rate was over 120 beats per minute.

マラソンをしているときと同じぐらいの負担がかかっていました。
His heart was working as hard as when running a marathon.

この日、前川医師はいつもどおり午前7時ごろ回診を始めました。
On this day, Dr. Maekawa started making rounds about seven a.m. as usual.

その直後、モニターを見た前川医師が大内さんの病室に駆け込みました。
Right after that, he saw the monitor and rushed into Ouchi's room.

心臓が突然停止したのです。
Ouchi's heart had suddenly stopped.

「これはまずいってことで、急いで大内さんの治療してる部屋に入って、それでマスターチームもそこまで行きますともうすぐに心臓を、心肺蘇生って言うんですけども、心臓マッサージを始めるんですが…」
"I hastily rushed into his room and the medical team immediately started cardiopulmonary resuscitation, that is, cardiac massage."

大内さんの心臓はいったん動き始めたものの、再び停止。
Ouchi's heart started beating again, but stopped again.

再開と停止を三度繰り返しました。
His heart repeated start and stop three times.

分刻みで心臓マッサージと強心剤の投与が行われました。
The medical team performed cardiac massages and administered cardiotonic drugs minute by minute.

「何が起こったんだろうっていうこともちょっとわからなかったですし、戻ってくれっていうことを、心臓戻ってくれっていうことを念じながらマッサージをしたり、みんなの手配をしたりしてですね、全員集合したんですけど…」
"I had no idea what had happened. I got all the team members together and we massaged his heart hoping that his heart would start beating again."

1時間ほどして、大内さんの心臓は自らの力で再び鼓動を始めました。
About an hour later, Ouchi's heart started beating again on its own.

「やっぱり戻ったときは、なんかホッとしました。
"I was so relieved when he came back.

でもほんと、ていうかほんとに、そのときは何もやっぱり考えれなくて、一生懸命戻ってほしいって思うことばっかりだったので。
I couldn't think of anything at that time. I was desperately hoping his coming back.

戻った瞬間はやっぱり、ああ大内さんが戻ってくれたと思ってホッとしました。」
When he came back, I felt relieved that he was alive."

しかし、心臓が一時止まったことによって、脳、腎臓など、全身の臓器が深刻な影響を受けました。
However, the stoppage of his heart had serious effects on various organs throughout his body, such as the brain and the kidneys.

大内さんの病状は、急速に悪化していきました。
Ouchi's condition was deteriorating rapidly.
