フォーマルな英語とインフォーマルな英語

(1). フォーマルな英語では、一般的な単語や句動詞をあまり使わないようにする

I'm writing to	find out	whether you have any	jobs	in your company
this summer.	↓		↓
	enquire		vacancies

find out … 見つけ出す、明らかにする、確かめる、調べる
enquire = inquire … 尋ねる、問い合わせる

job … 仕事、働き口、勤め口
vacancy … 空席、空位、欠員

(2). フォーマルな英語では、省略形や短縮形を使わないようにする

At the mo	, I'm studying Economics at	uni.

At the moment		university.
↓
Currently

at the moment … 現在（のところ）、今（のところ）

(3). フォーマルな英語では、能動態よりも受動態を使うようにする

I have been working part-time in a shop and recently	they promoted me	to
the role of manager.	↓
	I was promoted

(4). フォーマルな英語では、複雑な構造の文にする

I am enthusiastic. I work hard. I pay attention to detail.
↓
I am an enthusiastic person who works hard and pays attention to detail.
